Information

Folk Dance

  • 1. Maximum number of participants (including accompanists) allowed per team is twenty. The team may consist of all boys, all girls or a mixture of both.
  • 2. The dance can be either primitive or a folk dance (Indian style). Ballets are not allowed.
  • 3. Duration of the dance should not be more than 15 minutes.
  • 4. For the setting of the stage, extra five minutes will be given.
  • 5. Three copies of a brief note giving the theme and the text of the song, if any, is to be submitted along with the entry form at the time of registration.
  • 6. The participating team will be responsible for removal of their sets, properties, etc. immediately after the completion of their performance.
  • 7. Judgment will be based on the basis of rhythm, choreography, costumes, make up, sets and overall effects.
  • 8. Pre-recorded music (tape, cassette, etc.) shall not be permitted under this item.

Folk Song

  • 1. Maximum number of singers in a group can be ten.
  • 2. The folk songs should be taken from Indian songs which can be in any regional language.
  • 3. No film songs should be presented.
  • 4. Maximum time allowed for the folk song is 7 minutes. The setting time for a group shall not exceed 4 minutes.
  • 5. Judging of this item will be on the basis of quality of singing only and not on make-up, costumes and actions of the team.

One Act Play (English or Hindi only)

  • 1. The duration of the play should not exceed 45 minutes. Time will be counted as soon as the signal is given or the team starts giving the introduction, whichever is earlier. For stage setting and removal of sets and properties, up to 10 minutes will be given after taking charge of the stage.
  • 2. The number of performers should not exceed twelve.
  • 3. The participating teams shall bring their own set/stage property, make-up material etc. Light and general property such as ordinary furniture may be provided on advance information,
  • 4. The play may be in Hindi or English only.
  • 5. The participating team must report to the in charge of competition at least two hours before the presentation of the play.
  • 6. Judgement will most likely to be based on the qualities of the play like theme, acting stagecraft and overall impression etc.

Classical Vocal Solo (Hindustani and Carnatic)

  • 1. Maximum time allotted for these Items is 15 minutes.
  • 2. For the setting of the stage, mike, accompanists sitting tuning of instruments etc. extra five minutes will be given.
  • 3. Cinema songs are not allowed under these items.
  • 4. Sufficient thought and care must be exercised in the choice of raga and composition.
  • 5. Judgement will be based on the qualities like swara, tal recitation of bal selection of raga composition and overall impression.

Classical instrumental solo (English or Hindi only)

  • 1. Participants must bring their own instruments.
  • 2. Items can be presented in either Hindustani or Carnatic style.
  • 3. Maximum time allotted for sitar, Flute and Veena is 15 minutes and for Tabla and Mrigdangam is 10 minutes.
  • 4. For the setting of stage, mike, accompanists sitting etc. extra five minutes will be given.
  • 5. Judgement will most likely be based on the qualities like tal discipline, swara composition and general impression.

Harmonium (Light)

  • 1. Maximum time allotted is 10 minutes.
  • 2. For the setting of the mike, tuning of instruments etc. extra five minutes will be given.
  • 3. Participants must bring their own instruments.
  • 4. Items should be presented in light music form. It should exclude film music.
  • 5. Judgement will be based on the qualities like rhythm techniques, presentation, discipline, general impression, etc.

Guitar

  • 1. Maximum time allotted is 10 minutes.
  • 2. For the setting of the mike, tuning of instruments, etc., extra five minutes will be given.
  • 3. Participants must bring their own instruments.
  • 4. Item should be presented in Indian or Western music form.
  • 5. Judgement will be based on the qualities like rhythm coherence, technique, discipline, command on the instrument, overall impression, etc.

Classical Dance

(Manipuri, Odissi, Bharatnayam, Kathak and Kuchipudi)

  • 1- Each participant will be allowed a maximum time of 15 minutes for presentation.
  • 2- Extra five minutes will be given for setting of stage, mike, sitting of accompanists, tuning of instruments, etc.
  • 3- Judgment will be based on the qualities like tal and technique, rhythm, abhinaya or expression, costume, footwork and overall impression.
  • 4- Three copies of brief note on the description of dance, story involved in it, if any, and on the accompanying song, with its meaning in Hindi or English must be submitted at the time of registration.

Elocution (Extempore)

  • 1- The language would be either Hindi or English only.
  • 2- Each participant will be given a maximum of four minutes for presentation.
  • 3- The participants will pick up one slip from the container. On the topic mentioned on the slip picked up the participant will speak. Further chance for picking up another slip will not be given.
  • 4- Judgement will be based on the clarity of speech, flow, continuous flow, relevance to the selected topic, non-repetition of words and sentences, confidence, awareness about the topic, etc.
